A Witness In The Wilderness

As we enter into Mark's gospel, we are met with an urgent sense that something is happening - God is doing a new thing. Mark's prologue (vv 1-3) and the short but sweet account of John the Baptist (vv 4-8), we are immediately flooded with a sense of the significance of this new work of God as well as given a picture of what the Kingdom of Heaven will be like - even before Jesus, himself, steps onto the scene.
